With 100 partners and a $55 million fund, Marcus Whitney's Jumpstart Nova is the country's first Black health care venture fund.

Last summer, entrepreneur Marcus Whitney wrote an open letter to Nashville’s health care industry, noting that despite producing more wealth than any other sector in Nashville, Black people have largely been excluded from health care’s wealth generation — Whitney's new fund aims to change that.

"It’s a story that I’m uniquely qualified to tell … and that’s the very sad punch line,” Nashville entrepreneur Marcus Whitney said.
