My Android Crashes Too Much

So, I’m now fed up with it. I’m totally bought into the promise of Android. I like the user experience, I love the power of the platform and the Google Integrations, but the phones are just not that good. I haven’t played with a Galaxy S or Galaxy Nexus, or any Ice Cream Sandwich device, but I sincerly hope that they don’t full on crash as much as my AT&T Samsung Inspire.

This device has so much promise. Great screen, not too many installed apps, nice weight. But the thing crashes on me when I use RunKeeper and Rdio at the same time. That sucks.

It just crashed again on me while I was setting up my Path account. It crashes everyday now. It’s a really frustrating experience.

The thing about it is, I was an iPhone owner for years. Those devices did get considerably slower when major upgrades to iOS came out, but they did not full on crash anywhere close to as much as Android. It’s pretty pathetic.

I’m still an Android fan, and I dread the idea that I may need to go back to an iPhone. I’m going to have to seriously investigate the Galaxy Nexus and see if that is the answer or if I have to go back to the iWorld.

Wonder whats causing your instability, I’ve had some instability issues but they were custom rom related, wonder if you have a bad flash or it’s an app like carrier iq thats responsible.

Could be both. I want to take it in and let AT&T tell me if they have seen similar issues on this model.

My Verizon buddy had some sort of Samsung 3G Android phone, and when I asked him for advice (he does call center device support), he said, “Any of the HTC phones — they’re the least troublesome.” So far, so good with the Incredible II. I think I’ve only crashed an app twice, never crashed the phone, and I do reboot the phone once a week or so.

Good to know. I’ll start looking into the HTC models. Thanks!

Gee Marcus, has it been a year since you posted this?  That long since we talked gizmos? I had no idea you’d switched over from Android to iOS, thought you were still an Android loyalist… though I can tell your loyalties lie more with “what works?” that with any particular brand.  The Apple ecosystem works well enough for me, though with each new layer they seem to find a path to more and more new “features” that just aren’t ready for prime time.

Hey Paul, yup, I’m all iOS again. From my view, Apple is slipping and Android is gaining, but the damage to the Android brand from allowing Android to be on so many crappy phones is going to always be an albatross for them.
